Associate Director/Director, Business Development and Strategy

The ultimate goal is to be able treat patients with any type of solid tumor as early as possible in the course of treatment, to eradicate as much tumor as possible and to simultaneously activate the immune system to enlist its help in ridding the cancer permanently. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this his newly created role of Associate Director/Director, Business Development and Strategy (the level of the position will be dictated by the best fit for the role) will participate in all aspects of business development and corporate strategy which are inextricably linked.

 

Description:

The new hire in Business Development & Strategy will work in support of management by being part of and cultivating all relationships that aid in developing our business. This position is both a strategy and execution one. He/she will be directly responsible for the analysis and evaluation of all business opportunities. The candidate will be able to support business development execution externally too (focused on collaborative research and development agreements as well as high value partnerships) from initial meetings to due diligences, deal negotiations through to deal closings.  He/she may also be a liaison to existing alliance partners, legal teams, vendors and others.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop commercial assessments, product and indication planning and drive analytical & quantitative analyses (e.g. to build and own the full market model assessment for each indication from prevalence to penetration) to support business development discussions
  • Create product profiles and perform related market research as needed
  • Drive competitive intelligence
  • Support valuation models for internal pipeline programs and to benchmark and evaluate business opportunities which support structuring of financial terms for transactions (including work with Finance and program team members to incorporate relevant program, market research and competitive intelligence-driven assumptions into product/program valuations)
  • Prepare and maintain presentations (including financial/deal analyses, corporate or program presentations, opportunity assessments, etc.)
  • Participate in the development of strategic partnerships, alliances and licensing opportunities; playing a role across activities in the BD function: generation of presentation materials/pitch decks, due diligence and transactions
  • Organize, track, document and report the status of prospects in business development universe
  • Coordinate and participate in due diligence processes; Maintains and organizes data rooms
  • Establish collaborative relationships and maintain close communication with the senior management team and other key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on current projects

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Requires 5-7+ years of experience in business development, alliance management, commercial and/or drug development within the pharma/biotech industry which may include investment banking, management consulting and M&A deal consulting firms.
  • Advanced science degree preferred.  Comparable combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated licensing/acquisitions knowledge in the pharma/biotech sector required.
  • Previous experience in business intelligence, new product commercialization and or business development desirable

 

Skill Sets:

  • A self-starter with the ability to develop and execute work-plans with minimal guidance.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills with various levels of management and external stakeholders
  • Customer service-oriented mindset
